💙 On Autism Acceptance Day, Franklin School Students proudly wore blue to commemorate the dedication of the Michelle Sammaro Memorial Playground, which was built after tireless fundraising efforts by Heather Klein and Cathy Pedinha. Principal Cali and ABA instructor Heather Klein shared heartfelt speeches, and the Sammaro family honored their mother's legacy. Joined by Kearny City Councilwoman DeCastro, as well as Councilmen Ficeto and Zapata, and Mayor Carole Jean Doyle, Board of Education Member Viscuso, and our Administration, the event symbolized unity and support for our special education students. At Franklin School, Mrs. Russo's ESL Science classes discussed solar eclipse safety and learned about the different types of eclipses! 😎
🐰The bunny fun continues at Franklin School, where Mrs. Russo's 5th grade Science students created rabbit habitats and participated in a reflective discussion on their newfound knowledge of our furry friends.🐇
The Franklin School ABA/PSD classes had a hopping good time, participating in a meet-and-greet with Mr. E. Bunny himself, and partaking in a variety of egg-citing Spring themed activities, including an egg hunt, sensory bin activity, and pin the tail on the bunny!
The students use a communication app on their iPads to communicate during functional activities and when greeting people, as in our Spring event. The Total Communication Approach allows the ABA/PSD students to have a voice and the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities.
Franklin School participated in our annual FUN RUN BOOSTERTHON fundraiser! Our students ran and danced to high energy music while raising funds for our school community! Go, Falcons!
