Franklin School: Congratulations to our Students of the Month for October!

Today, the Kearny School District celebrates World Kindness Day! Kindness is the foundation of a supportive community. Every act of kindness, big or small, makes a difference. Let’s continue to spread positivity and lift each other up! 💙

Happy National School Psychology Week from Kearny School District! ✨ This year’s theme, Spark Discovery, honors our school psychologists for inspiring ideas, driving change, and expanding opportunities for students. Thank you for empowering our students and supporting our community’s growth!

🌙🦇 Happy International Bat Week! 🦇🌙 The 4th Grade KEEP classes in Franklin School are diving deep into the world of bats through the lens of #DepthandComplexity! Mrs. Cristalli and Mrs. Kyak explored key themes in Stellaluna with students, analyzed adaptations and habitats, and learned about conservation. From identifying “nocturnal” and “echolocation” to reflecting on bats' roles in our ecosystems, we’re using Depth and Complexity Icons to bring this topic to life! 🌎✨

Today, we salute the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of our veterans. Thank you to all who have served our country, from the Kearny School District.

Kearny High School’s ceramics class collaborated with Franklin Preschool classes for the second year in a row. Preschoolers in Ms. Murray, Ms. Bauer, and Ms. Kearns' classes drew monster designs, which Ms. Donnelly’s ceramics students brought to life in clay. On October 30th, high schoolers delivered each preschooler’s monster and read How to Catch a Monster. Mrs. Astrella and Ms. Donnelly led a fun sticker monster activity, and preschoolers enjoyed a gallery walk before taking their clay monsters home!

As we get ready for Election Day, the Pre-K students at Franklin read “Duck For President” and voted!🗳️ Each student received a ballot to vote for Duck🦆 or Farmer Brown👨🌾. On Friday, we will count all the votes from all the preschool classes and see who wins!🏆

The Kearny School District wishes everyone celebrating Diwali a joyous and meaningful holiday, filled with light, love, and prosperity.

Franklin School's ABA students participated in a trick or treat event with help from the Junior Peers! Ten stations were set up, and the students used their communication devices to say "trick or treat," "Happy Halloween," and thank you! Franklin School: Mrs. Melker's 2nd Grade KEEP students are practicing to be architects! Today, they finished sketching famous buildings around the world, including the Empire State Building, the Eiffel Tower and the Parthenon!

Franklin School: Mrs. Janz’s classes have been learning about energy. The students have been building rides and games for an amusement park and learning about stored energy, kinetic energy, and energy transfers. They had to experiment to learn how to make rides exciting, use predictions to win games, and problem solve on how to build a safe roller coaster next to an alligator pond!

🌟 At Franklin School, Ms. Hinostroza's 3rd-grade ESL science students became scientists for the day! They explored the wonders of their own hands, observing closely and asking curious questions about what they noticed. 🧪🔍

Franklin School: KEEP Teachers Mrs. Kyak and Mrs. Melker invited another 3rd grade class up to the library for a whole class enrichment lesson. After reading CREEPY CARROTS by Aaron Reynolds, the students were given a challenge to build a fence out of only two materials, popsicle sticks and clothespins! It was a success! Great job, Falcons!

Franklin School: What a fun day our students had picking their own pumpkins at our own Franklin School Pumpkin Patch! Thank you so much to our PTA for all you do for our kids!
