On Friday, Ms. Klein's class went to Big Nick's and used their iPad communication devices to practice their communication skills, including ordering and using money to purchase lunch! Their progress this year has been amazing, these trips allow for immersive, life skills experiences.

💙 On Autism Acceptance Day, Franklin School Students proudly wore blue to commemorate the dedication of the Michelle Sammaro Memorial Playground, which was built after tireless fundraising efforts by Heather Klein and Cathy Pedinha. Principal Cali and ABA instructor Heather Klein shared heartfelt speeches, and the Sammaro family honored their mother's legacy. Joined by Kearny City Councilwoman DeCastro, as well as Councilmen Ficeto and Zapata, and Mayor Carole Jean Doyle, Board of Education Member Viscuso, and our Administration, the event symbolized unity and support for our special education students. Franklin School: KEEP Teachers Mrs. Kyak and Mrs. Melker invited Mrs. Rodrigues' 2nd graders for a "Flower Power" STEM session! Their challenge was to build a flower from only a few materials provided, and the flower needed to stand on its own. It was really fun! Go, Falcons!
