Schuyler School - Mrs. DeRay’s Pre-K had a visit from a silly leprechaun today and he left behind some fun! They went on a scavenger hunt for alphabet gold coins, made molding dough to create their own insects and even did a science activity to create rainbows! It was magical!
Schuyler School - Today Ms. Twesten's class showed their St Patrick’s Day spirit by wearing green, making hats and playing some St Patrick’s day games.
Schuyler School - Today, Larry from Unique Creatures visited Schuyler School. The Pre-K students saw a toad, tortoise, chameleon, iguana, skunk and even a Kookaburra! What a great way to end our Pet Study!
Schuyler School - Today Ms.Avino's class had a special mystery reader - Ms.Sharon's daughter! She read "The Great Eggscape" to the class, and she planned a fun activity to do afterwards. Everyone got to create and decorate their own eggs just like the ones we saw in the story. Everyone had so much fun!
Schuyler School held their first Masked Reader event! Four masked teachers recorded a read aloud and gave a few clues about themselves. Throughout the week the students viewed the read alouds and voted for which teacher they thought it was. On Friday, the students all came together to watch our masked readers reveal themselves!! It was so much fun! (Thank you Ms. Esparra for putting this event together)
Schuyler School - Congratulations to the winners of our iReady contest for February! These students had the most lessons passed for the month in each homeroom. Then we honored the students who had the most in the whole grade level and finally the grand champ with the most lessons passed in the whole school!!
Schuyler School - Mrs. Ferreira's class had TWO mystery readers to finish the week! Thank you to Firefighter Corbett for coming to visit and Eduardo's Dad, Mr. Valcarcel for reading to our class!

The ESL students in Grade 4 are learning about amplitude and wavelength in their ESL/Science class. They experimented with making waves with a rope and then described how they had to vibrate their hand to make waves that represented high-pitched sounds and low-pitched sounds.
Schuyler School - Mrs. O'Malley's third graders ended Read Across America week by wearing their comfortable clothes and cozying up with a good book! The students loved reading in a comfortable spot with their flashlights listening to the campfire while reading one of their favorite books!
Schuyler School - Today Ms.Avino's Class got a special mystery reader - Ms.Marissa! Marissa is a former student of Schuyler School. She read to our class the book "How the crayons saved the Rainbow". She also had some fun activities for us to do, such as creating our own 3d rainbows and coloring the different colors of the rainbow. We had so much fun!
Schuyler School - Ms. DeRay's class was so excited to have Ms. Ferreira's brother visit as their mystery reader!
Schuyler School was happy to host the Bloomfield Animal Shelter today! Wrapping up the study of pets our PreK students learned about some animals and how to take care of them. They also made donations to help the animals at the shelter and Mr. Sickinger and the winning team from our Corey Burke Volleyball Tournament donated a $500 check!!
Schuyler School - Mrs. DeRay’s class loved having Fernando’s mom, Mrs. Godinho Bravo, join them as their Mystery Reader today. Fernando’s older brother, Liam, was also able to visit for this special time! Thank you for volunteering!
