Schuyler School - Ms. DeRay's class had a very special visitor this afternoon as their Mystery Reader! Oliver’s mom, Viviana Rocha, read “Bear Counts” by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman to the class. They played their favorite fishing number game together and had so much fun! It was great having her join us today! Thank you so much for volunteering!

Schuyler School - Today, Ms.Avino’s Pre-K class learned about Groundhog Day. They predicted whether the groundhog saw his shadow or did not see his shadow. They also learned about what it means if he does or doesn't see his shadow. They were surprised to find out the groundhog saw his shadow meaning 6 more weeks of winter!
Schuyler School - Today, the Kearny Fire Department visited to talk about their clothing, the special camera they use and fire safety! The students all learned how to stay safe and even got to try on their uniforms. Thank you to Firefighter Corbett, Firefighter Wilczek and Captain Tirado!
The 6th grade LLD students joined KHS Success classes for a hands-on Life Skills event, learning essential tasks like doing laundry and making a quick meal. Huge thanks to our amazing teachers and aides for making this experience so meaningful!

Schuyler School - Special birthday celebration for all our students with January birthdays!
Schuyler School Pre-k 4 students had the pleasure of ending their Camera Study with help from Mr. MsShane, a teacher at Kearny High School and parent of our prek student. Mr. McShane went above and beyond to present such wonderful facts , hands on experiences and such knowledgeable diagrams to allow our Prek students to have fun while learning all about cameras. Thank you Mr. McShane for a wonderful day!
Schuyler School - Today Mr. Dominie, a clothing store manager, visited Ms. Twesten’s class to teach the students about operating a clothing store. They discussed how to separate clothes by size and what clothes the store sells for each season. Then he
treated the students to a read aloud of the story Corduroy. The students had a lot of fun!
Schuyler School - Ms. DeRay's class had a very special visitor join us this morning as our Mystery Reader! Ruzgar’s mom, Perihan Kirca, read our students a dinosaur story about numbers and taught them how to count in Turkish and Japanese (they shared with her how to count in Spanish!) They played a fishing number game together and had so much fun! It was great having her join us today!

Schuyler School - As part of their Camera Study, Ms. DeRay's class made tiny Security Cameras and they captured some fun! The students left their favorite stuffies at school over the weekend and they explored their classroom AND their school! They even visited Mrs. Iacono’s office! The students loved receiving pictures over the weekend and seeing what their stuffies were up to!
