On June 19th, Kearny School District faculty gathered for the final in-service of the year. Guest speaker Emma Lembke introduced "The Log Off Movement," promoting digital mindfulness and phone-free time. The presentation was followed by panel discussion by Kearny Faculty Book Club on Nadine Burke Harris' The Deepest Well, exploring the impact of adverse childhood experiences. These sessions provided a reflective and insightful experience for all.

We want to thank the businesses that donated to our ESL/Bilingual event on June 7th. We truly appreciate your generosity and support!
Due to the anticipated heat, Tuesday, June 18, will be a single session day. Wednesday, June 19, all schools will be closed due to the Juneteenth holiday and staff professional development. Thursday, June 19 and Friday, June 20, will be single session days. On single session days, all students in grades PreK-12 will be dismissed at 12:54pm.

On Friday, June 7th, the district's ESL/Bilingual families came to Kearny Public Library for the final event of the year. Our families enjoyed dancing to the music of DJ Mike, refreshments, and art projects. A special thanks to the KPL staff for their hospitality!
Ms. Murrayās Pre-K class and Ms. Donnellyās Kearny High School Ceramics class teamed up to bring our preschoolersā monster drawings to life!! Mrs. Astrella and Dr. Cali stopped in to check out our Monster Museum, and Mrs. Astrella read āThe Color Monsterā story to the class!

On Friday, June 7th, Lincoln Middle School students assembled on Kearny Avenue to support their classmates, accompanied by guidance counselor Adele Mackin and Assistant Principal Matt Sleece, as they participated in the annual Special Olympics Torch Run event. Students contributed donations to the fundraiser and had the opportunity to run alongside the Kearny Police Department, carrying the Special Olympics torch.

Washington School preschoolers in Ms. DaSilva and Mrs. Gawronski-Smyth's classes took a trip to Turtle Back Zoo last week, where they visited attractions like the touch tank, saw the prairie dogs, took a train ride and enjoyed an outdoor lunch. Students were so excited to see all different types of animals from different areas of the world and even got a peek into what the different habitat needs are of each.

At Franklin School, Miss Murray prepares an excited group of preschoolers for their transition to Kindergarten with an interactive reading of the classic tale "The Night Before Kindergarten."
