Garfield School's Kindergarten-4th graders learned about fire safety today! Thank you to the Kearny Fire Department and Chief Inspector Juan Barroso for bringing this important program to our school!





Garfield School Fifth Graders go on a Scavenger Hunt for information at the Kearny Museum.

Garfield School Fifth graders visit Kearny Public Library and Kearny Museum. Students applied for library cards, borrowed books, and learned about the history of Kearny.





Garfield School: Mrs. Goncalves' 2nd graders engaged in learning about measurement in ESL science class.



Garfield School: Mrs. Berberian's 4th graders read the nonfiction article, "Tying the Score" and discussed how text features help them understand what they are reading.





Garfield School students from all grades participated in a school wide Fall Reading Challenge to earn a prize.

Garfield School Library Media Specialist visited Pre-K 4 classrooms to share the newest Mo Willem’s book “The Pigeon Rides the Rollercoaster.” Students participated in an interactive read aloud and a craft.

Fourth graders at Garfield School visited the library to research a topic for their nonfiction book report. They also continued their research by searching online databases and encyclopedias.

Next week we celebrate Respect Week and learn about many ways to show kindness and respect to ourselves and others.


Garfield School Library turned into the "Starbooks Cafe." Students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 visited the library to for a book tasting. Everyone had so much fun reading and reviewing books of all different genres.
