Garfield School: Students in Ms. Curry's Third Grade KEEP class used engineer design thinking to solve a problem. Students worked with partners to plan, create, and test out their ideas. Then they brainstormed and discussed ways to improve their designs.
Garfield School: Students in Ms. Curry's first grade KEEP class used engineer design thinking to help solve a problem. The Creepy Carrots kept escaping out of Crackenhopper Field! Students used a variety of materials to create structures including fences with barbed wire and a moat.
The Garfield School PEERS lent their helping hands to the 2nd grade to assist in making Holiday Cards for Military and First Responders.
Garfield School students in Ms. Seeley's second grade class enjoyed their first visit to Rocky's Nest, our School Store today. They loved shopping and purchasing items with their Rocky dollars! Everyone is hard at work earning money for their positive behavior. Thank you to Mrs. Balogh for helping us at the store today.

Garfield School: Students in Mrs. D'Elia's First Grade Class have been learning about Closed and Open Syllables. We are having so much fun learning in our classroom.
Garfield School: Mrs. Signa’s 5th grade students are engaged in identifying and implementing sensory details in their personal narratives. The students collaborated on describing their favorite foods for their readers using their five senses and then shared their descriptive sentences with the class.
Garfield School: In Mrs. Lonnay's 9th period, students chose to be in the “It’s A Page Turner” group where we studied the genre of horror. Students also had the opportunity to choose characters and participate in reading several plays from Scholastic Scope including, W.W. Jacobs’ The Monkey’s Paw, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and Edgar Allan Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart. For our hands-on activity, students designed and created masks!
Garfield School Student Liaison Committee meets with Pomptonian to discuss what they enjoy about the lunch program. The students also give suggestions on how to improve.

Garfield School-4th Grade. Mrs. Berberian's Reading Classes read a non-fiction book of their choice and made a poster including the 5 most interesting facts they learned. Each student had the opportunity to present their poster in class. Great job everyone!
Garfield School: In 5th grade Life Science, Ms. Harris’s students are learning about earthworms and decomposers. They played a mix and match game to learn their unit vocabulary and then collaborated with their peers to practice their comprehension skills. They are preparing to welcome their earthworms into their classroom this week!
Garfield School: Students in Ms. Seeley's second grade class took advantage of the nice weather and went outside for writing time. They are working on making sketches first and then using that to create their stories.

Garfield School: Mrs. Margiotta visited Mrs. Lazu's preschool class to my classroom and planted two plants with the children. She allowed the children to place soil into the pot. She also discussed what plants need to survive and compared it to what we need to survive as well.
