KHS: The Senior Teen PEP organized a community workshop involving students and parents to discuss topics such as sex, gender, and sexuality. Emphasizing the impact of personal values and attitudes on parental guidance, the workshop highlighted the crucial role parents and trusted adults play in providing teenagers with necessary guidance regarding decisions about sex and sexuality. Effective communication with parents and other trusted adults is identified as essential in preventing sexually transmitted infections, HIV, and teenage pregnancy. Parents and love ones, thank you for coming out and supporting this event and our students who worked very hard to present to everyone!! Thank you Mrs. Velez and Mr. Diglio

KHS class of 2021 alum Carolina Da Fonseca Guedes spoke to Mr. Vega’s Forensics Lab Honors students about several topics including the opportunities they have to become involved in academic research when they get to college, the need for more women in STEM fields, college life in general, and how she used the opportunities she had as a student at KHS to get to where she is today. Carolina is a 3rd year student at St Peter's University triple majoring in Chemistry with a Forensic concentration, Biochemistry, and Mathematics, in addition to being in the Accelerated Master of Education program. During her time at St. Peter's, she has assisted in scientific research on the use of cashew nut shells in carbon-based supercapacitors for sustainable battery technology, and in the use of ruthenium complexes in hydrogen fuel cells, the latter of which she will be presenting at the American Chemical Society meeting later this month. She is also beginning the process of applying for PhD programs in Chemistry

KHS: Today SBYS held open recreation. Rather than having a structured activity, the students had the opportunity to utilize the SBYS recreation room and activities however they preferred. As a group, they decided they wanted to watch a movie! What a great afternoon to get comfy, watch a movie, and have some snacks with friends!
