Garfield Elementary School was one of 200 schools from 40 states across the country to receive a $5,000 grant through the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries. This year, the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries awarded $1 million in library grants.
Garfield School will use the funds to update and diversify their collection. Ms. Curry, the School Library Media Specialist, plans to update the nonfiction section with more up to date resources for research purposes and to allow students to explore their curiosities and interests across different topics. She will also make sure to expand the fiction and graphic novel book collection to reflect the diversity of the members of our school community and beyond.
