Garfield School: 🎓 6th Grade End-of-Year Awards Assembly 🎓
We wrapped up the year with a special awards assembly to celebrate our amazing 6th grade students! Awards were presented for Highest GPA in a subject area and Presidential Award — honoring those who maintained all A’s from 4th through 6th grade. Our teachers are so proud of the hard work, dedication, and growth shown by each student this year. Congratulations to all award recipients, and best of luck as you head into middle school—you’re going to do great things! 🌟

Garfield School: The 6th graders in Ms. Vicente's class ended the year with a fun food truck project—using math to budget, design, and bring their tasty ideas to life!

Garfield School: 6th-grade students in Mrs. Lonnay's ELA class wrapped up their unit on Ancient Greece with a creative and hands-on project! As a culminating activity, each student selected a Greek god or goddess to research and then brought their character to life by designing and crafting a clay mask. Using paint and sculpting techniques, they created detailed representations of their chosen deity. The project combined art, history, and research skills, allowing students to dive deeper into mythology while expressing their creativity.

Garfield School: Our 6th-grade peer leaders visited the 5th-grade classrooms to share a special presentation about what to expect in middle school. They spoke about the exciting opportunities in 6th grade, from switching classes and joining clubs to making new friends and becoming more independent. The peer group also offered helpful tips, answered questions, and eased any nerves the 5th graders had about the transition. It was a great example of student leadership and support!

On June 5th, the second graders at Garfield School threw a fantastic Starbooks Publishing Party — and guess what? They’re officially published authors now! 🎉 Each class crafted and illustrated their very own books, bursting with creativity and imagination.
The young authors proudly shared their stories not only with fellow second graders but also with the eager ears of first graders and kindergartners. To celebrate their big achievement, everyone enjoyed tasty bagels and juice.
A big shoutout to Starbucks of Kearny for fueling the grown-ups with delicious coffee! ☕ And a huge thank you to our special guests — Dr. Masters, Ms. Biondo, and Mrs. Tchalabi — who made the day even more memorable.
What a fun and inspiring day filled with stories, smiles, and plenty of sparkle! 🌟📚

Garfield School Fourth Graders in Mrs. Kenig's Science class are observing how pill bugs move around their habitat. Do they walk, crawl, or roll into balls? They're also exploring how pill bugs interact with their environment. Do they explore, hide, or feed? In addition, they are focusing on specific behaviors such as grooming, antennae movement, or interactions with other pill bugs and their characteristics of different body parts.
