BOARD MEETING RESCHEDULED TO THURSDAY, JANUARY 18, 2024 DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER
In accordance with the Open Public Meeting Act, P.L. 1975c 231, this is to advise that the Kearny Board of Education has changed the date of the January 16, 2024 Regular Board Meeting to Thursday, January 18, 2024. Closed Session will begin at 5:00 p.m. The meeting will be open to the Public at 7:00 p.m.
While the Board reserves the right to change the date when necessary in order to accommodate the public to attend the meeting, legal notice of this change has been sent to the Board, Town Clerk, District Website and posted at the Board Office.
Due to the continued bad weather and potential for freezing temperatures, the Kearny School District will be closed today, Tuesday, January 16.
Due to the anticipated weather conditions, the Kearny School District will follow a delayed opening schedule tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16. PreK through grade six will arrive at 10:10am and grades seven through twelve will arrive at 9:50am.

On Saturday, December 9th, the Title III Family Engagement Program hosted their New Year's Event. ESL/Bilingual students and their parents decorated cookies, learned about New Year's traditions from around the world, danced Zumba, and at the stroke of "midday" (noon), a toast was made to "kick-off" 2024. There was so much excitement and fun ringing in the New Year!!!

šØāļø Given the weather conditions this evening and the uncertainty of the morning commute, to help ensure the safety of our students and staff, the Kearny School District will operate on a 90 minute delayed opening schedule tomorrow, Wednesday, January 10. Students in Grades PreK-6 will arrive at 10:10am and students in Grades 7-12 will arrive at 9:50am. Dismissal will be at the regularly scheduled time.
Tuesday, January 9: Due to the anticipated weather conditions later today, all sports and after school activities will be cancelled. Help period and the Right at School after care program will not be cancelled and will follow their regular schedule.
Congratulations to our Girls Indoor Track team and Coaches on winning the Hudson County Interscholastic League Relay Championships yesterday in Jersey City.
Congratulations Guadalupe Rosas-Gregorio, NJ.com Hudson County Bowler of the week. Rosas-Gregorio carded a 382 series as she helped Kearny top Snyder on Wednesday, 5-2. After rolling a 112 and 101 in Games 1 and 2, she exploded for 169 in Game 3, which is a new career high.
