KHS: Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Bowling team who swept McNair on Wednesday, 7-0, to clinch their 9th straight HCIAL South Division Championship. The team was led by Guadalupe Rosas Gregorio who had games of 168 and 163, finishing with a league season high 466 series. Her three strikes at the end of the third game secured the Kards victory. Jaymie Cambrelen added a career high 141 game. Mia Martinez also added a career high 140 game. Madison Szymanski, Vida Quezada, and Litsy Then also added strong contributions. The ladies shot a season high 691 game and league high 1871 series in the victory Congratulations also goes out to Genesea Arroyo who finished the season with a 134.2 to lead the division.

KHS: Congratulations to the Girl's Indoor Track & Field Team for winning the Hudson County Championship. The team was led by Sara Ryan who won the High Hurdles, placed 3rd in the 55, and anchored the 1st place 4x400. Hilary Costa for winning the High Jump and in doing so tying the school record, placing 4th in the High Hurdles, and leading off the 1st place 4x400. Keala Chichino placing 2nd in the 800, 1600, and 3200. Gabriela Pifano placing 2nd in the Shot. Priscilla Castillo placing 4th in the Shot. Adrianna Sorianno placing 6th in the 3200. Melissa Mota and Asya Brown filling out the 1st place 4x400. Other key contributors are, Maeve Weber, Summer Rodimer, Leandra Dos Santos, Hadassha Dos Santos, Araxiel Cardanas and Isabella Held. KHS: KHS would like to congratulate Mr. William Mullins on his retirement from the Kearny School District. Mr. Mullins is pictured here with his lovely wife Jaqueline of 22 years of marriage and his two towering sons, William and Matheus. For 35 years, Bill Mullins has served public education and has been coaching since 1978! Coach Mullins' career has spanned different sports, different positions, and different schools--and even different counties. He began here in Kearny in 1980 as both a teacher and a coach. He then traveled to Escola Americana in Rio DeJaneiro, Brazil, to serve as athletic director and coach basketball professionally. When he returned to the US, he coached basketball for Montclair State, and football for St. Peters and even tried his hand at varsity soccer at Dickson High School in Jersey City. Mr. Mullins has coached and officiated across a multitude of high school sports. Once he was securely back in Kearny, Mr. Mullins coached basketball and then volleyball for the boys’ varsity team at Kearny High School, taking the team to win the Hudson County Championship in 2022--a first in KHS history! After the 25 years he has dedicated to Kearny, he will be truly missed!!

KHS: KHS Broadcasting courses were visited by Ms. Gab Varano, Associate Social Video Producer for NBC News. Gab spoke with students about the day-to-day tasks of the position producing content for NBC News' TikTok account which boasts over 4 million followers. Gab showed the students examples of her work and co-facilitated a discussion on the ever changing landscape of media and the rise of short form content. Topics included human interest stories, entertainment, current events, and news. After the presentation, students worked on a brainstorming activity to use the knowledge from the workshop to create supercut videos of their own. Students also had the opportunity to ask Gab questions in a Q&A session about her past internships and career development as well as the demanding yet rewarding nature of a job in news. Very Nice!!!

Mrs. Incorvaia's Unified PE students collaborated with Ms. Moran's Self Advocacy Club in a "give-take" activity in preparation for the upcoming wellness fair. The students created notes of positive affirmations and encouragement to give to those who need to take away a few kinds words. The students generated these wishes under the theme of "We're all capable."

Mrs. Sansone's students used their super-sleuthing skills to complete a breakout room activity with Mrs. Amenta helping to lead the investigation 🕵🏻

KHS: Students from Mrs. Sansone’s Freshman honors class broke out of a dystopian themed breakout room. Mrs. Amenta facilitated the fun for the students during third period.

KHS: SGA The Battle of the Classes, "Disney Edition" will be held on Friday, March 22 beginning at 7 in the KHS Gymnasium. Come out and cheer on your class to see who becomes the ultimate victor!

KHS: On January 25, 2024 the SOTM Breakfast was held in the Media Center of KHS. Mr. Brack, parents, guardians, teachers, students and counselors were present to honor the nominated students. The breakfast was hosted by the Culinary Art Department. Mr. Measso, Mr. Tietjen and Mr. Measso facilitated the program. Congratulations to Mr. Jason Monaco who was named the Kardinal Crown recipient for the month of January by his students! Two of his students spoke at the SOTM breakfast. What did they have to say: "Mr. Monaco was chosen because he is a very enthusiastic teacher and always projects positivity. He always walks into class with a smile on his face and tells us how much he loves to be a teacher. He is very supportive and he makes math fun. Teachers make a difference as to how the students learn in their class and Mr. Monaco is that teacher!"
