In celebration of the Kearny School District Elementary Wellness Week, we encourage our community to take a moment for mindfulness: No time for a workout? No problem! Try these 3 easy chair exercises to stay active while sitting: ✔️ Seated Leg Lifts – Lift one leg at a time, hold for a few seconds, and switch! ✔️ Chair Twists – Rotate your torso side to side for a core stretch. ✔️ Shoulder Rolls – Roll shoulders forward and backward to release tension. 💡 Tip: Move every 30 minutes to keep your body feeling great! KHS Wrestling Awards Dinner The 2024-2025 wrestling season has officially come to an end, and while our 9-16 record may not tell the full story, our team's growth, dedication, and accomplishments made this a truly memorable year. Competing against a tough schedule and securing key wins, we earned a spot in the Team State Sectional Tournament—our first qualification in three years. This achievement is a testament to the relentless hard work of our wrestlers. This season also marked several historic firsts for Kearny High School wrestling. While we've always welcomed female student-athletes, we had never rostered more than two at a time—until now. This year, we had 15 female wrestlers, and despite injuries sidelining a few, our girls' team made history. We competed in all-female dual meets and hosted the inaugural Lady Kards Invitational, which welcomed over 120 female wrestlers from more than 20 schools across New Jersey. Additionally, for the first time in school history, we sent five female wrestlers to the individual Region Tournament. With talented middle school wrestlers set to join us next year, our girls' program is on the rise. As a team, we were young and relatively inexperienced, with only five seniors in our 14 varsity spots. Despite this, we started strong, winning the Kearny Holiday Tournament against 15 other teams. Our senior leaders—Adam Ramadan, Isaac Moya, Ryan Rodriguez, Danny Oliviera, and Daniel Martins—set the tone for the season. Adam led the team with 20 pins, while Ryan and Isaac each secured 12. Several underclassmen stepped up in a big way, including freshmen Jon Rocco, Aiden Burke, Angel Pineda, Izael Moya, and Tyler Olechowski, as well as sophomores Matt Pagan, Sean Baignoche, Benjamin Codreo, Liam Cooper, Carlos Rojas, Mikey Pickard, Elliot Hidalgo, and Lucas Galvao. Juniors Joseph Maisonet and Lucas Ruiz also contributed significantly to the varsity lineup. One of our biggest highlights came at the end of the season, with sophomore standout Matthew Pagan finishing 2nd in the District Tournament and 5th in Regions—just one spot shy of qualifying for the prestigious State Tournament at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Beyond the wins, milestones, and individual accolades, what truly defined this season was the bond we built as a team. We wrestled not just for ourselves, but for each other. As we look ahead to next year, we are excited to see our underclassmen rise to the challenge, our freshmen make an impact, and our program continue to grow. Thank you to everyone who supported us this season—we can’t wait for what’s ahead!

In recognition of 🌎Global Recycling Day♻️, the Kearny High School SAVE club has created a display of ⭐580+ pounds ⭐of recyclable plastic bags and films that would have otherwise entered the landfills. ‼️Plastic bags and films cannot be recycled in town curb recycling programs and therefore, items like bread bags, vegetable bags, poly mailers, paper towel/toilet paper wrap, and water bottle casing, typically end up in the regular trash. ♻️The SAVE club has partnered with a company called NexTrex and entered their 1000 lb challenge. KHS has one year to collect 1,000 pounds of recyclable plastic bags and films and deliver them to NexTrex. If we succeed, we can win a bench made from recycled materials to display on school grounds. ⭐📣Our goal is over halfway met and we still need 450 pounds of plastics. Plastics can be dropped off in the white or green bins throughout the school.
